So Pierrot's has closed. Driving by a dew days later I found the entire
area flooded by heavy rains. Pierre is looking for a new location, so if
anyone can help please contact us. Thank you for being our guests.
News FLASH!!!
 In
addition to the wanton destruction of anything and everything,
Pierrot's will also be bidding it's present location of ten years a
sad sayonara on September 2nd. This has less to do with the
stupidification of the Shimokitaza than with the building plans of
the properties owner.
However, Pierre has put up the
good fight, and keeping the goons and goliaths (and in the
pocket-cops) at bay for basically as long as he wanted to is a
superhuman achievement.
A big round of applause and
everyone please come out to the party(ies) tonight and tomorrow
night....

News Update: As most people know, Pierrot has been operating for ten
years and is an amazing accomplishment in Tokyo, a city that is
fascinated by concrete and bad music.
Pierrot perfectly fits the character of Shimokitazawa, and has
thrived against many efforts by local shop owners and competitors to
spoil the party. In the early years the police would come around
every night to harass the foreigner who was so impetuously giving
his customers exactly what they wanted: Open space, live but gentle
music, and a friendly atmosphere. Pierrot continued. Now it seems
that the forces that want to turn Shimokitazawa into a parking lot
are getting set to build on the spot. But Pierrot is not closing
down without a fight. The situation is in arbitration, during which
time Pierrot continues uninterrupted. Having the roof and walls torn
down one night did not faze Pierre. He opened the next evening in
the rubble and within three days had a bamboo structure built with a
delicately arched roof that is nothing less than a technical wonder,
and surpasses the previous structure in terms of elegance and
comfort. History is in the making, and summer is approaching. A
great time to come and see the seventh wonder of Tokyo!

There is a unique building which looks like a circus tent not too far from
Shimokitazawa station. It's a used
clothes shop during the day time, but it changes
into a cafe bar at night and an oasis for bohemian
people.
Our open-air space is definitely a cool place for cold beers in
the summer
time. In winter, this space is warmed
with kerosene heaters so it's warm and cozy inside.
It's a place where anybody, young and old , locals and foreigners, happy
or blue people, and big or small animals hang out...

下北沢の駅から歩いてもそう遠くないところにちょっと変わったテント風の建物があります。
昼間は古着屋さんですが夜になると屋台風バーに変身!!いろんな人がいっぱい行き交う
街角に、夜になるとポツリと現れるボヘミアンのオアシス的な場所。
それがピエロ・カフェ・バーです。
毎晩行われる素敵なライブ演奏を聴きながらゆっくりお酒を飲むもよし。
仲間と会話を楽しむのもよし。新しく出会った人と文化やアイディアの交換をするのもよし。
ぼ～っと、通り過ぎ行く人々を眺めるもよし。
お年寄りから子供、大小動物、地元の人や遠い異国の人、普通の人やそうでなさそう開放されたテントの下で冷えたビールをくい～っと、冬はどこか懐かしい石油ストーブにあたりながらメニューも豊富なホットカクテルで心と体を温めてはいかがでしょうか..

We have various types music, but mostly Jazz,
Brazilian, Latin, Flamenco, Irish, Okinawa folk music etc...that makes

feel relaxed.

NO COVER CHARGE, but all the musicians are quite
